A Reverse Osmosis (RO) system is a water purification technology that uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove ions, molecules, and larger particles from drinking water. The process works by applying pressure to the water on one side of the membrane, forcing water molecules to pass through while blocking contaminants. The clean water that passes through is collected on the other side, while contaminants are left behind and flushed away.

Here's how an RO system generally works:

1. Pre-Filtration: Water first passes through a sediment filter to remove large particles (like sand, dirt, and rust) and a carbon filter to remove chlorine, which can damage the RO membrane.

2. Reverse Osmosis Membrane: The water then enters the RO membrane, where contaminants such as dissolved salts, heavy metals, and microorganisms are filtered out. This process is driven by water pressure.

3. Post-Filtration: After the RO membrane, the water typically goes through a post-carbon filter to further purify the water by removing any remaining tastes or odors.

4. Storage Tank: The purified water is stored in a tank for later use.
