Moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) is a biological technology used for wastewater treatment process and it is widely used in sewage treatment plants and aquaculture farms. MBBR media is a novel biologically active carrier, it adopts scientific formula, depending on the nature of water.

Applications

Decentralized Water Systems: Ideal for smaller, decentralized water treatment applications.

Municipal Wastewater Treatment: Used in sewage treatment plants (STPs) to treat sewage and other domestic wastewater.

Industrial Effluent Treatment: Effective for treating wastewater from various industries.

How MBBR Media Works?

Surface Area for Biofilm:The primary function of the media is to offer a large, protected surface where microorganisms, like bacteria, can attach and form a biofilm.

Biological Filtration:This biofilm acts as a living filter, breaking down organic pollutants in the wastewater.

Free Movement:The media floats and moves freely within the reactor tank, driven by air bubbles from the aeration grid at the tank's bottom. This movement ensures constant contact between the biomass and the wastewater.

Improved Oxygen Transfer:The moving media and aeration grid enhance oxygen transfer, which is crucial for the microorganisms to thrive and efficiently decompose waste.

Protected vs. Total Surface Area:The design of MBBR media focuses on both the total surface area and the protected surface area (PSA), as the inner surfaces of the media provide more protection for the growing biofilm.
